I'm not sure how long this leaf was preserved in the snow. This photograph was taken in January and I thought the fall leaves would have been long gone by this time. The locals called it "stick season" since it was rare to see any leaves on trees or in the area at all.
I just love the composition and the contrasts of the photo. It can be challenging to get good details when there is so much "white" to fool the camera meter. I did not rearrange any part of the scene. What I saw is what I photographed. That is my way of preserving images.
